OUR STORY
First Hand Vintners is the new sales venture of Belvidere Winery.
For many years we have traded as Belvidere Wines and while this was a natural extension of Belvidere Winery, we have decided to rename our sales arm to First Hand Vintners.
This is a very exciting change for us, as it better describes what we are and what we actually do – we are vintners, we produce wines, we sell wines, and we have 20+ years of First Hand wine experience!
Our winery is located in the Langhorne Creek wine region of South Australia and is ideally located to receive fresh grapes from the Riverland, Clare Valley, Barossa, Adelaide Hills, McLaren Vale, Southern Fleurieu, Padthaway and Coonawarra.
It is the largest winery in Langhorne Creek and in one vintage we can process up to 18,000 tonnes of grapes. The winery has a tank storage capacity of 20 million litres and holding capacity up to 5,000 barrels. The winery is well equipped to produce a broad range of wine styles.
With such a reliable wine producer helping, First Hand Vintners can focus on the wine sales business. First Hand Vintners not only sells packaged wine, but can also provide custom pacakged wine and bulk wine services to clients.
Jonathon Luestner B.Ag.Sci (Oen)
Winery Manager/Senior Winemaker
Jonathon Luestner is our Winery Manager and Senior Winemaker. In 20 years winemaking experience, he has collected a vast number of accolades and achievements with approximately 100 gold, double gold, trophies and 90+ point ratings to his name worldwide.
After studying engineering, he moved on to graduate with his wine science degree from the world class Roseworthy course at Adelaide University.
Jonathon has been a guest lecturer in wine courses, spoken at high level charitable events and been involved in many consultancy projects where he has taught and shared his extensive wine knowledge and experience.
His winemaking journey has seen him work at many wineries throughout wine regions of his native Australia and around the world.
Madalyn Rivett B.VitOenol
Winemaker
Madalyn originally hails from Tasmania, where wine is all but unavoidable. Moving to South Australia in 2009 to study her Bachelor of Viticulture and Oenology at the University of Adelaide, she graduated in 2013 after a gap year travelling to work vintages. To date, Maddie has worked with wine in Australia (Barossa, Tasmania, Adelaide Hills and Langhorne Creek), England (West Sussex), Canada (Okanagan Valley) and the US (California). 2022 is her 15th Vintage to date.
Sam Dunlevy B.Ag.Sci (Oen)
Winemaker
2022 signals Sam's 23rd vintage. Having started at Rosemount in 2000, he has seen vintages at Kangarilla Road, Gemtree, Wirra Wirra, Fleurieu Vintners and McLaren Vale Winemakers/FUSE/Loom within Australia. He has also worked vintages in Spain (Zamora, Rueda and Malaga), Canada (Okanagan Valley) and New Zealand (Central Otago).
Sam enjoys exploring the raft of new varietals that are emerging in popularity in Australia, both red and white, including Fiano, Vermentino, Nero, Saperavi and Carignan to name a few.
First Hand Vintners is based on the edge of Adelaide city which is very convenient to visit and enjoy.
